EFINST Bakırköy

The residental district of Bakırköy is located on the European shore of the Sea of Marmara midway between the historic Sultanahmet district and the Atatürk International Airport.  Bakırköy, which means Copper Village, has been inhabited since the Byzantine times and served as a summer residence for wealthy Ottomans for many years after that.  While little of its former glory remains, Bakırköy still contains hidden gems such as the Armenian Cemetary, a powder house from the 17th century, which is now the Yunus Emre Cultural Center, and the tomb of Zuhurat Baba, an Ottoman soldier who died during the conquest of Istanbul.  Present day Bakırköy is a busy commercial center packed on the weekends with throngs of people from the outlying districts in search of a bargain.

The Bakırköy Branch is on the west end of Istanbul Caddesi, one of the main roads in the district.  There are eight classrooms of varying sizes to accomodate everything from 1 to 1 classes to our larger weekend classes.  Our branch offers a bit of everything from high school exam prep classes to adult general and business classes.  Bakırköy is one of the smaller branches with eight teachers, an administrative staff of four, a Branch Manager and a Director of Studies.
