About Us

Dear teachers,
As the founders of EFINST – Engin Fikirler Dil Okullary, we would like to say “Welcome to our large family”! We first started the institute in 1996 in Etiler, a very reputable suburb on the European side of Istanbul, to teach Turkish to foreigners. Later, because of demands from the foreign students who were mostly people working at multi-national companies and/or consulates, we started to offer English to the local people mostly from the same institutions as the students in the Turkish Department. Soon we became a well-known institution for our English courses as well as Turkish, first in Istanbul, soon all around Turkey. It was then that we wanted to be a part of an international organization so that we could offer some combined programs for the students to practice the language in its home countries. This is how we first joined the IH network in 1998. In 2000 we opened our second school in Suadiye, on the Asian side, which has always been our pride. In 2004, because of some problems we experienced with the IH organization and a nice offer by EF, we decided to change our organization to be a part of EF, English First. As a result, our 3rd school, EF Bakyrköy was established under our new affiliation name EF, again on the European side in an area close to the Atatürk International Airport. In 2007 a branch was opened in a nearby city called Bursa. This school has another specialty as it is our first franchise school indicating that our individual name has become very reputable and well-known in the Turkish market. Finally, our Ankara branch started in late 2008 as our second franchise school, just before the good news that we were the winner of EU Language Label Award with ESP project. This was our first EU Language Label Award but did not stay as the only one because in 2009, this time with a very special project for the FIFA Referees in Turkey we repeated our success and got the award again. Thanks to all the staff who put great effort in both projects!

After all these years and all our experience, we know that our value comes from the entire staff at all our schools in Turkey and their professional approach. The results of our surveys through the companies and individual students have showed us that we are preferred and valued not because of the brand names we had been affiliated to but because of our serious business approach and high quality service. This is why we have decided to make our own institutional name a brand to be franchised, and this is how EFINST was born. With you joining us in the new term, we are sure that our success and quality standards will increase even more and we trust that your contribution to our value will be great. We believe that our main strength lies in our commitment to supporting our teachers and providing them with opportunities for professional development. A regular programme of workshops and observations is carried out by the Academic Manager, the Directors of Studies and the Senior Teachers, and a mentoring system provides further support for less experienced teachers and those new to Istanbul.
